Sail on the Loch

There are passenger launches sailing the entire
length of Loch Ness which can be joined at different piers along the loch. For
those not wanting to spend so much time on the water there are dedicated hour
long cruises on which the passengers get close to Castle Urquhart for a great

Visitor Centres
|
There are two visitor centres at Drumnadrochit
devoted to the question is there or is there not a Loch Ness Monster.
Exhibition
2000and Loch Ness Lodge Hotel Exhibition, Of historical interest the Culloden centre is of great interest, also the
highland Folk Museum at Kingussie is well worth a visit, Urquhart
Castle, "within walking distance for some"

Castles and
Distilleries

There are three castles just east of Inverness
that are still inhabited which welcome visitors and on Loch Ness itself the the
ruin of Urquhart Castle which still stands proudly above the loch, scene of
many a sighting of our famous monster and is perhaps the most visited ancient
monument in Scotland also several distilleries which offer guided (escorted)
tours. |
Entertainment and Events
|
Many of the Hotels throughout the season have
entertainment in the evenings which feature Scottish fiddle and accordian music
singing and dancing which are open to everyone and throughout the year most
communities have their highland games as well as agricultural shows and game
fairs. |

Forest Walk
|
Easy walking here, if you can walk down the High
Street but are not used to more arduous country walks you will find this is a
great place for a relaxing stroll with many interesting features, bird waching
hide, replica bronze age hut, tree house, shieling, many plaques depicting the
local wild life each one with audio support giving verbal description or

The
Great Glen Way
|
This is the latest long distance walk 73 miles long
it crosses the country from Fort William on Loch Linnhe in the west to
Inverness on the Moray Firth in the East, there are many interesting features
in its path as it follows the great works of Thomas Telford (the Caledonian
Canal with its many locks) at the same time the walker enjoys some of the
finest scenery in Scotland. |
Cycling
|
Drumnadrochit is a convenient stop over for doing
Lands End to John O'Groats also there is the Great Glen Cycle Route between
Fort William and Drumnadrochit. |
Touring our Area

There are many Castles and Distilleries within easy
motoring distance of Drumnadrochit, Lochs on the canals linking Loch Ness to
the other lochs forming the Caledonian canal, more visitor centers,
